About the event
The next First Friday Lecture Series will take place on November 2 with speaker Jennifer Miller, PhD, a member of the faculty of Yale Medical School, who will discuss the timely topic of ethical issues facing the pharmaceutical industry.
First Friday Lectures are free to the public and all are welcome to attend.
About the Speaker:
Jennifer E. Miller, PhD, is an Assistant Professor in Yale University School of Medicine. Her work explores the ethics of healthcare innovation, particularly pharmaceutical research and development, drug marketing practices, and access to medicines issues. She also works on the ethics of collecting, analyzing and selling data about people.
Dr. Miller founded the nonprofit Bioethics International and the Good Pharma Scorecard (an index that ranks new drugs and pharmaceutical companies on ethics and and patient-centricity performance criteria). She is a member of The World Economic Forum, participating on their Future’s Council and Human Enhancement Working Group. Prior to joining Yale’s faculty, she was based at NYU School of Medicine, Duke University, and Harvard University. Her training is in physics, bioethics, business ethics, and regulatory governance.
