Service Opportunities

At Saint Luke Church, we offer monthly service opportunities that allow us to put our faith into action and serve our neighbors in need. As disciples of Jesus, we are all called to live lives of compassion, generosity, and service to others.

Volunteers are always needed to support our parish outreach efforts. Whether you can give a few hours or participate regularly, your time, talents, and love can make a meaningful difference in the lives of others.

Join us as we grow in faith, build community, and answer Christ’s call to serve. Together, we can strengthen our parish family while bringing hope and kindness to those in need.

Meals for the Homeless

On the second Sunday of each month, parish volunteers come together to prepare and distribute 60 hot meals and food bags for individuals experiencing homelessness and food insecurity in Bridgeport.

Volunteers gather in the Saint Luke Community Room from 2:00–3:30 p.m. to prepare the meal bags and organize supplies. At 3:30 p.m., volunteers load their vehicles and travel to Bridgeport, where they join the Missionaries of Charity Sisters to distribute meals at the Bridgeport train and bus stations.

This ministry offers a meaningful opportunity to encounter Christ in those we serve while sharing compassion, dignity, and hope with our neighbors in need. Individuals and families of all ages are encouraged to participate.

Join us and be transformed.

Grab & Go Meals

Our Grab & Go Meal Ministry provides simple, nutritious lunches for individuals experiencing homelessness and food insecurity in our community. Each meal bag includes a brown bag lunch containing a turkey and cheese or ham and cheese sandwich, a bottle of water, fruit, and chips.

Families are invited to participate by signing up for one or more of our three monthly service dates to prepare 25 Grab & Go meal bags at home. Completed meal bags are dropped off at 10:00 a.m. to Jeanne Stewart in the Saint Luke Church parking lot on the assigned date.

The meal bags are then delivered to New Covenant Center in Stamford, where they provide lunch to those experiencing homelessness and food insecurity.

This ministry offers a wonderful opportunity for individuals and families to serve together and share Christ’s love through a simple act of kindness and generosity.

Mission Day

Mission Day 2024.jpg

Each year, our parish community comes together for our annual Mission Day on the first Saturday in August to put our faith into action through service to those in need.

In preparation for Mission Day, parishioners are invited to donate items from our wish list to help assemble 500 Blessing Bags for individuals and families facing hardship in our local communities.

On Saturday, August 1st, volunteers of all ages are invited to gather from 9:00–11:00 a.m. to assemble the Blessing Bags. Following the assembly, volunteers may join us at 11:30 a.m. as we share a BBQ lunch and distribute the Blessing Bags to residents at Park City Residence. Additional volunteer teams will help deliver bags to Harrison Apartments and Gillespie Center.

Mission Day is a wonderful opportunity for individuals, families, and friends to come together in service, share God’s love with our neighbors, and live out our call to be the hands and feet of Christ in our community. We invite everyone to participate through donations, volunteering, or prayer as we make a difference together.
